Christopher Baker Scott, Executive director

Christopher Baker-Scott serves as the Executive Director & founder of SUN Scholars Inc. Chris holds a Masters Degree in Government Extension Studies from Harvard University & a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism and linguistics from CCSU. Baker-Scott is an Alumni of the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institutes 2019 Foster Youth Internship Program, holds a Governor's Appointment on the Department of Children & Families State Advisory Council, and was recognized as one of Connecticut Magazine's “40 under 40” in 2022. Baker-Scott resides in Manchester with his wife, foster daughter, and pets Puchakaya (rabbit) and Fig Newton (Cat).

Whitney Rodriguez, student support coordinator

Whitney Rodriguez is a graduate of Gateway Community College, and holds a Bachelors’ Degree in Criminal Justice from Central Connecticut State University. Formerly. Rodriguez was a youth social worker at a Connecticut Group Home Network, mentored foster and adopted youth at CCSU, and has spoken before the Connecticut General Assembly on child-welfare reform.

Tyler Fabian, Board of Directors/secretary

Tyler Fabian holds a bachelors degree in Technology Management from the School of Engineering at Central Connecticut State University. He is a SUN Scholars alumni and currently also works as a Detailer at Belcan Engineering. He is an international adoptee from South Korea.

Alan AButin, student support coordinator

Alan Abutin holds a bachelors degree in Communications and Social Justice from Central Connecticut State University. Alan is an alumni of the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute’s Foster Youth Internship program in 2020 & 2021, having had presented child welfare policy before members of the U.S. Congress, White house, and First Lady of the United States.
